I was pleased to see that there are a variety of our monthly mags that are finally realising and promoting the art of yoga for our kids.
Not only does it make everyone STOP - SLOW DOWN - and finally think...but it offers what many need - a published opinion that perhaps it's not just another gimmick that empties the wallet and leaves one feeling done in!
Yoga has been around for donkey's years and not only the swami's are practising it anymore - but the average Joe and Jane as well as their kids.
It's like the rest of our homegrown remedies - tried and tested and ultimately - no quick fix but a conscious awareness of our breathing - heart beating - stopping to smell the roses and getting back in touch with the most precious possession, gift and instrument that we could ever own - our bodies!
Taking time to reconnect with something as simple as acknowledging the flow of our breath (meditation) could possibly allow us to better listen and understand what / how we are neglecting and ignoring the bodies actions and reactions to environment and foods that are negatively affecting our systems.
Our habitual eating patterns and unfortunately those that we impart on our kids are not always healthy but usually come with tantrums and unpleasant encounters - my son says he's allergic to veg-LOL - but will scoff down sliced raw carrot and apple any time or day of the week.
So finding out how to present fresh fruit & veg in a palatable manner will encourage the less adventurous and perhaps broaden the taste buds experience too!
My wise Gran always said:-"too much or too little will always harm - everything in moderation"
In a lifestyle of excess - perhaps we should all just stop - take a moment to listen to our thoughts and bodies - slow down - step lightly and breathe*
